Do you love teaching, but need advice on making it into a successful business? I am an experienced teacher with a thriving studio and I want to share my tips with you.
I’m “violinjudy” or Ms. Judy Naillon, a dedicated Piano and Violin teacher located in Wichita, KS. My full time job is my studio, playing with Wichita Symphony, managing and playing with my String Quartet and, of course, being a wife and mother to my wonderful family. I received my Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from Wichita State University, studying under John Harrison, Esther Noh and Nancy Luttrell. Pre College I studied with Laurie Bastien, Cynthia Cook and Laura H. Black. While attending WSU I played Violin in the Wichita State University Orchestra under Maestro Michael Palmer. I also studied Harp while in college under Ann Glassman and pre college under Nancy Hercher. I also play the ‘cello, viola and accordion and love to sing. I have played violin in the Wichita Symphony Orchestra for the past 12 years under Maestro Andrew Sewell and Daniel Hege, and am privileged to have met some amazing guest artists. I also manage a string quartet and we play area events like weddings, receptions, and conventions. You can find out more about our group at www.wichitaweddingmusic.com.
Each summer I teach fiddling, along with other fun theory classes and ensembles at Camp Allegro www.campallegrowichita.com. I also run a “bootcamp” of my own in the summer, with an intense introduction or push forward combined with fun group lessons on Violin or Piano for ages 5 and up. I’m a member of MTNA: Music Teacher’s National Association. In College I was lucky to attend many national conventions, which really helped make me the great teacher I am today.
I love coming up with creative ideas to help my students be successful, including composing pieces for them, making up new games to make theory fun, planning awesome group lessons and scouring the internet for all things violin & piano… from worksheets to the latest iPad app.
I was hesitant at first, but I love seeing my students (young and old) delight in all that an iPad can offer! I’m proud to be a certified JoyTunes iPad Piano teacher and able to gift my students with access to this amazing app! There are so many new options that can really make practicing FUN! Join me; I’ll help to get your students in a joyful learning spirit!
