January Lesson Fun

Happy New Year!

It’s official-Christmas is over and the decorations are all coming down. In my studio, it feels refreshed but a little bare without my crazy decorations everywhere. If you’re missing all the fun of your Christmas games, songs and resources that you used last month, take a moment and pull out some winter activies that you students will still enjoy. Here are some of the “specials” we are using in my studio this month:

This month the rule is if it snows we are having a FLASH pajama day!  So of course, all of my students are really hoping it snows now!

Ochi

Andrea Down from Teach Piano Today has some free downloadable worksheets here and Susan Paradis has the cutest snowman Bingo here.

We had lots of fun in my studio using my rice bin-rhythm activity , but with fake snow.  It is messy but totally worth it!  I also used it at my Christmas Piano Camp.

We played this game from Susan Paradise (for older students you can ask them to tell you the definition of everything in under 30 seconds or a minute)

Students are learning different levels of Auld Lang Syne and if you need to find a copy, you may already own them in the books listed below.

and we are also doing my Birthday Challenge along with a Coloring Contest!

Update:  Teacher Brandy Woods also has a great blog post with more ideas for you here!

If you would like 60 easy ways to invigorate your studio, please check out my book “60 Day Makeover: Music Teacher Edition” on Amazon . Information about private consulting is here!

Please note that amazon referral links generate a teeny tiny bit of income which I use towards the maintenance of this website! Thanks for reading my blog!
